I say Buggar!! YOU WILL BE MISSED.
I planned to have more cuppa’s with you, drag you out fishing perhaps even if you just watched, but no that wasn’t going to happen.
I enjoyed the heaps of good chats with you during the whitebait season (mostly) listening to your stories of your travels.
I’m pleased for you that you have left this earth (as we know it) and left the pain behind too.
The words of Frank Sinatra are playing in my head as I think about some of your life stories you have shared.
I’ve lived a life that’s full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more
I did it, I did it my way
Regrets, I’ve had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much, much more
I did it, I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
And through it all, whenever there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it, did it my way
I’ve loved, laughed and cried
I had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears…
And to think I did all that
And may I say not in a shy way
No, no, not me
I did it my way
For what is a man, what has he got
If not himself, then he has naught
Not to say the things that he truly feels
And not the words of someone who kneels
The record shows I took all the blows
And did it my way
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more
I did it, I did it my way
Regrets, I’ve had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much, much more
I did it, I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
And through it all, whenever there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it, did it my way
I’ve loved, laughed and cried
I had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears…
And to think I did all that
And may I say not in a shy way
No, no, not me
I did it my way!!!
Rest easy mate.
I am so happy to have met up recently after far too many years again with my cousin Lin. Around 70 years ago we played as kids in Taylorville and my recollection whilst a little vague was Aunty giving us Super Wine biscuits to eat and Grandma Shirley growling because of all the loud boystrous activity.. Then it seemed like 54 years ago we made contact again ..that was on my honeymoon with my lovely partner Maureen.. I remember how welcoming he was yet again.. Then only 5weeks ago we called on him… Hi Danny he says ..just like it was only a fleeting few years… we were so impressed with his attitude and our sincere sympathy goes to all his family.. As we all get older it seems we somewhat forget our close cousins and family. My own family is somewhat now reduced. Only Con 89 next month myself 79 and Pam 75 remain.. RIP Lin…until we meet again.
